Congrats to the 2023 Rogue Hunt Winners!

27 October 2023

Before sharing this year’s winners, we want to direct your attention to this page on our site, highlighting how judging, scoring, and points work: https://roguehunt.com/rogue…/judging-guidelines/

Without further ado… First, and perhaps the most difficult prize to award…

The Judge’s Prize:

After scoring individually, the judges met up to finalize winners (aka had a three hour conversation gushing about how much you all impressed us). The judge’s prize challenged us because there was so much great work created by Rogues this August. We debated giving it to one of the teams who had overall great quality. We debated giving it to one of the teams that was one of the few to complete a difficult item. In the end, we decided to give it to a single standout item – one that made us laugh or feel something; one we’d stop and show our loved ones while judging. An item that may not have been the most challenging or required the most time or talent, but teams that took an item completed by most teams and came at it from a slightly different angle. Who took the time to tell us a story. Who went above and beyond in some way. Sometimes, even a team who threw the rule book out the window because they had an idea and ran with it. Our original finalist list for this item contained around 10 submissions and it took a lot of deliberation to narrow down our Winner and Runner Ups.

Huge congratulations to Runs with Scissors for winning this year’s Judge’s Prize. When judging items for hours, or at 2am, there are sometimes items that make you pause and smile. This little beauty was one of them. Amidst a collection of gorgeous abstract swirls submitted for item 20, this submission uses a clever composition and captures the ephemeral effect of the rain as it transforms the paint – and it does so in a delightfully playful way. Congratulations also to Veni and “Something Creative” for taking RU in this much-discussed prize; your works also made us stop, smile, and appreciate the joy of being a Rogue Judge.

Prize Item: Loki’s Day

There were so many creative takes on this year’s prize item:

Item 98 (Where’s Loki’s Day??!?)

We loved seeing the many different ways you all approached this item. However, there were two teams that stood out. Shout out to Slackers for great costuming, scripting, and making us laugh.

And a huge congratulations to GriffWishinMyTardis: your stop motion, animation, and voice-over work thoroughly impressed us!

Altruist Prize

There were 16 Altruist items on this year’s list and every team that participated put some love and joy into the world.

This year’s Altruist winner is Kiss a Rogue – one of the few teams to complete every single Altruist item on the list and the team with the highest number of donors towards their fundraiser. They earned an average Altruist Score of 852 points from the judges!. Thank you for helping us spread goodness like glitter!

Runner ups for the Altruist prize were:

  • MotherDuckers (702 points)
  • Vidi (679 points)
  • Tea*Lightful (651 points)

2023 Winners!

The competition was fierce with more than 1,500 total items submitted.

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…. Congratulations to this year’s Winners:

โญ๏ธTea*Lightful with 5,466 points!!! โญ๏ธ

Successfully completing more than 90 items, Tea*Lightful scored the highest number of points from every single one of our judges.

You impressed us with your creativity and whimsy. We particularly loved your fridge marionette, hiking tuxedo, extreme canoeing, and comic book cover. Tea*Lightful was the only team to build a lifesize treehouse and the only team to complete the hula hoop team building item. And while many teams received written shout outs from the Savannah Bananas, Tea*Lightful was the only team to successfully get a video from a player. Amazing work!

Congratulations also to this year’s Runner-ups:

  • Funky Ruckus (4,608 points)
  • Slackers (4,482 points)
  • Kiss A Rogue (4,331 points)
  • Vidi (4,307 points)

You made us laugh, cry, and see the good in the world.
